Adam Hesch is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Master of Professional Studies in Cybersecurity Management program at the Tulane University School of Professional Advancement, where he helps students advance and enrich their professional lives through learning.
Mr. Hesch is an experienced program and project management executive in the defense and criminal justice domains. He has delivered large-scale systems for both local and federal government agencies ranging from criminal justice information systems, human resources management, and data warehousing and advanced analytics.
Mr. Hesch is a former Naval Officer having served in the U.S. Navy until 2018. His 15+ year career with the Navy included leadership positions both afloat and ashore as a Surface Warfare Officer. Of note, Mr. Hesch was the curriculum lead for the development of a mobile team-based training program designed to prepare sailors to obtain and maintain their Cyber Security Work Force qualification within the Department of Defense.
Mr. Hesch holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration in Management from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He holds a variety of certifications in project management, cybersecurity, and cloud and information technologies, including: Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP), CompTIA Security+, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solution Architect Associate, Microsoft Azure, and other Microsoft related technologies.
Mr. Hesch lives in the New Orleans area with his wife Brittany and their family.
James Lee, Jr., Ph.D., teaches Penetration Testing and Cyber Network and Telecommunications Security at SoPA. Dr. Lee is a senior Department of Defense cybersecurity professional and has been with the Marine Corps for over 20 years. He has performed all aspects of information technology and security to include telecommunications, system administration, acquisition, project management, and strategic leadership.
Dr. Lee has a Bachelor’s Degree in Management/Computer Information Systems from Park University, an M.B.A. from George Washington University, an M.S. in Government Information Leadership from National Defense University, and a Ph.D. in Business Information Systems from Mississippi State University. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, a certified ITIL Practitioner in IT Service Management, and a Certified Ethical Hacker. Dr. Lee has publications in Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS), the Journal of Computer Information Systems (JCIS), and a book chapter in Psychology of Trust: New Research, and presented at the International Federation of Information Processing Dewald Roode Information Security Workshop.
Mark Melasky is a Patent Attorney with Norton IP Law Firm in Metairie, Louisiana. Mark is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in patent cases. His practice includes patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and related intellectual property and business formation matters.
Additionally, Mark is an Adjunct Professor in the Tulane University A.B. Freeman School of Business, where he teaches Law in Marketing, a course he designed to educate undergraduate business students on intellectual property issues in the context of marketing and business management. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Cyber Law & Policy in the Tulane University School of Professional Advancement.
Mark has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School. He is also a licensed Zumba® Fitness and Strong by Zumba® instructor and teaches weekly classes, including three in the Tulane Reily Student Recreation Center.
Georgia Weidman teaches in SoPA’s Master’s in Cybersecurity Management program. She is a serial entrepreneur, penetration tester, security researcher, speaker, trainer, and author. She holds a M.S. in computer science as well as holding CISSP, CEH, and OSCP certifications. Her work in the field of smartphone exploitation has been featured internationally in print and on television. She has presented or conducted training around the world including at Black Hat, DEF CON, NSA, and West Point.
Ms. Weidman founded Bulb Security LLC, a security consulting firm specializing in security assessments/penetration testing, security training, and research/development. She was awarded a DARPA Cyber Fast Track grant to continue her work in mobile device security culminating in the release of the open source project the Smartphone Pentest Framework (SPF). She founded Shevirah Inc. to create product solutions for assessing and managing the risk of mobile devices in the enterprise and testing the effectiveness of enterprise mobility management solutions. Shevirah is a product of the Mach37 cybersecurity accelerator.
Ms. Weidman is the author of Penetration Testing: A Hands-On Introduction to Hacking from No Starch Press. She was the recipient of the 2015 Women’s Society of CyberJutsu Pentest Ninja award. She is on the board of advisors of the angel backed security training startup Cybrary, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland University College, a member of the CyberWatch Center’s National Visiting Committee, and served as a judge for the FTC’s 2017 Home Inspector IoT security challenge.
Warren Zafrin, who teaches in SoPA’s Master’s in Cybersecurity Management program, is a leader of the management and technology group at UHY Advisors. He has over 25 years of industry experience and more than 25 years of capital markets and technology strategy experience. Over the course of his career, Mr. Zafrin has supported many of the top 10 companies in the world and has managed project teams across the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia.
Mr. Zafrin is recognized as an industry leader for developing sophisticated strategies assisting his clients meet their business goals while addressing regulatory reform, capital efficiency, risk management and disruptive technologies.
Mr. Zafrin holds a B.A. in Economics from NYU, an MPA in Finance & Financial Services from the NYU Wagner School of Public Policy, and an MBA, CIS from Baruch Zicklin School of Business. He is the author of “Using data analytics to reduce your financial crime risk,” in the Euromoney Financial Crime & Cyber Security Handbook, 2014.
